Sory to kind of copy the other post but I'm just wondering what people would prefer to wear.
I say uniform because I reckon you'd have too much discrimination with non uniform, like on non uniform days in school (like 3 times a year) people get really worked up about it, like a week before the non uniform day they're like "OMG what are you gunna wear", it's really sad lOl. I reckon it'd be ok, but with uniform nobody gets 'labelled' as much and I think bullying is decreased. Also I CBA to put on different clothes everyday lOl

I prefer uniform...
Even if u don't really like color, it's same for everyone.
Otherwise there is bullies and racket.

I prefer uniform, although I love being an individual, showing off and competing with other's it gets annoying doing it everyday. At least with uniforms it's the same thing we all have to wear and it kind of makes all of us equal at school.
Also non-uniform days are so cool!
But it's always non-uniform day at my college.

I don't always like uniforms, but I definately approve of guidelines I.E. Navy dress slacks, or skirts below the knee... white dress shirt.... navy blazer optional
I like it when they give the freedom of what style looks best on the person, but prohibits activities that would be a problem in school. I don't like pleats, but a freind may look best in them. Let the students have a little bit of responsibility with out giving all control to them

i dont wear uniforms and i like it that way so...

i hate the idea of uniforms. the sheer thought of wearing a skirt, or colours i don't like, or a specific type of shoe gives me the creeps.
they'd have more success by teaching fashion courses than simply prohibiting fashion choices. school is a micro-society, and it has the same rules as normal society. people are different and clothes won't level the differences, so why pretend to do it?
and about discrimination... why shelter kids from social differences? if they learn about it when young, they will get used to it and adapt. if they learn about them at 18, let's say, they will be utterly lost in the real world. and anyway, they can see the differences when they compare mobile phones, or watches, or when they talk about where they spent their vacation.
in my country private schools are rare, so i won't talk about those - if they're private, they sort of have the right to enforce their own rules. but i won't have a public institution control what i wear.

different clothes = racket?
uniforms = no more bullies? that's the solution? it's just a covering up reality, in my opinion.
now, if we dressed all the armies in the world in the same uniform...would we still have wars?

No uniform. We never had them in school and I'm so glad. I like being able to dress how I want.

I have a half way point - we have to come in in clothes we would 'wear to work'.

Never worn uniform, so I said no uniform - I don't know what it's like to wear one.
I think uniform nowadays is used because it's a tradition, rather than prevent bullying.

I had to wear a uniform my entire school career and hated it. Where I'm from a uniform was enforced to prevent the wearing of gang colors and gang violence. At least that was the theory, in reality the gangs just figured out ways around that. Another "pro-uniform" argument was that uniforms prevented arguing about "expensive" clothes, which is bull, because the rich kids still looked rich and us poor kids still looked poor despite the uniforms. The only good think that came from a school career in uniforms is that now, I always have a belt on, always!

insteresting topic, i remember having debates on this at school baha
noone really ever likes to wear uniforms although i have to say i'd rather have uniform 'cus it's just a lot easier you know?
i hate feeling restricted on what i'm allowed to wear but atleast i didn't have to go buy a new outfit every week. i dont like to wear the same thing over & over but uniforms are an exception cus everyone else has to wear it over and over too.
plus, if you're a rebel (haha, i say this cus i know that my school didnt like you doing this).. say your uniform colours were black and white, instead of wearing a white poloshirt and the schools sweater you could wear a white shirt with a black tank top. or something. you can still make the uniform your own with accessories/shoes or whatever
however, there was never really any bullying in my school but i don't think it stops bullying. you can still tell what peoples styles are by their hair/makeup or accessories so people will still get labelled.

I don't think uniforms has any influence on your capacity to learn so I don't really agree with them. However it is much easier in the mornings to just put on a uniform and when kids of a certain age are very judgmental when it comes to clothes so it does make it easier for them to just throw on a uniform. You can still express yourself when you wear a uniform only not through your looks but through your words and actions.

I hated wearing uniform, but luckily now I don't have to wear uniform as I'm in 6th form

my school uniform was very simple, black or blue trousers with a white shirt
any kind of shoes as long as they were black (including the soles, we couldnt wear trainers though- although i did on a few occasions because they had black soles lol)
we also had to wear a school jumper but i didnt wear mine very often i just had it in my bag- i got out of wearing it because it was too restricting and i kept burning up with it on.
i prefer what i wear to work
i either have to wear black trousers and a matching blazer or a skirt and matching blazer with a white shirt.
i prefer wearing a blazer- they look so much smarter than a jumper

I say no uniform, I used to be for it, because of the whole equality side, but at our school the fact is you can tell who can't afford the uniforms anyway, because they wear the "old" uniform which was navy, opposed to the new black versions, showing it was perhaps "hand-me-downs".
And our school uniforms get more expensive every year!
I'd like to see a little more diversity in schools, and showing variety in a positive way.
I'd like individuality to be encouraged instead of repressed like it is in my school, where even a shirt, waistcoat and tie is considered too "non-school". I think this fact is made worse as I am a girl too.
Once I wore one of my mothers pearl style necklaces and was told to take it off as it was "bling".
But hey, at least SOME of the teachers agree with how I dress
Some even ask me where I bought my stuff 'cus they'd wear it!

Uniforms are good because everyone is the same... no one gets teased, no one causes a distraction. Plus most uniforms dont look that bad.
