I've been reading online that on 12-12-12 the world will end, that the apocalypse is coming.
"12.12.2012. End of time. End of the world. The end of Mayan Long Count. The apocalypse. The end of Kali Yuga. The winter solstice 2012 is not just any solstice but the solstice of all solstices. It is the Great Solstice - a solstice of the precessional or Platonic year. It is the fountain of all solstices and all equinoxes from which the life flows and cascades from a season to season. It is the source from which the time to which we owe our existence gushes out. And it is also a payback time when such existence must be justified. "
What are your thoughts on this?

I don't think so. What made the people back then so much smarter than we are now? I think it's just a coincidence.

Honestly, I don't think so. One Mayan calendar stopped on that day, but they had more than one calendar. And other calendars continue past that day.
However, I would not mind if the world ended so that I would not have to pay back my college loans. XD

It's December 21, 2012
Not December 12, 2012
It looks better the second way, but the second way isn't the right date.

I don't have a lot to say on the topic, other than "no".

Yeah, I've noticed it too, some reports say 12-12-12 and others 12-21-12

this is silly... the world didn't end on 08-08-08... nor did it end on the millenium
Lifes to short to worry about the end.... the end will come when it does and there is nothing we can do about it

Online

lol MissSophie I'm pretty sure you made a poll like this about 08-08-08
we're just going to have to wait and see won't we ?
let's just take life as it comes

It's definitely December 21st, that's the date of the Winter Solstice (Summer Solstice for us Down Under).
I've done a lot of research about this. Though I don't think the world will end on that date, I'm fairly certain something of cosmic importance will happen.
One theory is that the first time machine will be constructed on that date (doesn't seem so credible now, considering how far off we are technologically). According to certain scientific speculation, if a time machine were possible, we could never travel back in time to before it was created. So whichever date it was activated on would signal the end of history as we know it - as everyone from the future who had ever thought to go back to the time when the first Time Machine was created would appear at that instant.
There's a whole lot of interesting ideas surrounding the year 2012 if anyone wants to explore it.. Oh and the exact time of the Solstice for that year is 11:11 UTC. There's a whole thing around that number as well, the '11:11 enigma'.

Yeah i dont believe stuff like that, people are always saying the world will end.
Anyone can make a theory on the world ending in my opnion.

The world will end when the diddlyroach queen eats her young. Now thats a theory.
I think I would rather an apocalypse to end the world. I've always said that if I'm going down I'm taking everyone else with me.
It does seem plausible that it be 2012, if Britain win the olympics on their home ground, it could probably bring the world to an end.

We're suppose to be crossing the galactic equator on that date. The Mayans considered the center of the universe to be the tree of life, and this is the date that we will be conjunct with the center of the universe.
I hadn't heard anything about 11:11... though, I have a stupid little superstition of my own about that time... I like to think that if I look at a clock and it says 11:11 then whatever I am thinking at the time is true. I know very good and well it isn't, but... it keeps me entertained.
Any idea of where to find information on the thing with 11:11 that you're talking about?

This page should be a good start and shows its link to 2012.
Other than that, just Google it. It was hard to find another page to recommend that wasn't full of outlandish theories. I don't believe everything I read
Basically, if you see it all the time you're special in some way. At least, that's what they say. It's almost always tied to the 2012 apocalypse thing... I guess the people who see it are either supposed to play some role in the events or become the first to be enlightened (assuming it's a global enlightenment and not a global annihilation lol)

If we listened to every time someone said the world would end, we would all be petrified all the time. Over the last 8 years since the millenium they have said the world would end at least once a year or something stupid, it's a load of ole' rubbish, and if its not, there's nothing we can do about it anyway so there's no point in worrying.
In case you hadn't guessed, I think NO!!!!
Officially in love with and married to Coral

well the millenium bug didnt eat us alive in 2000 and the world didnt end on the 08/08/2008 so i dont see it ending on 12-12-12 its just a scam to make money and get people panicing!

Interesting... I've had more than a passing fasination with synchronicity for a pretty long time. Thanks for that page, it was worth the read if only in passing.
I know you don't believe everything you read, but if you're like me and read this sort of stuff when you're bored... I'd suggest picking up -The Celestine Prophecy-.

I've seen a doco on Maya 2012. On the 12-12-12 the planet Earth actually crosses the Milky Way Equator from this Hemisphere we are in, into the next. It's like crossing our Earths Equator from the Northern Hemisphere into the Southern Hemisphere. That is astronomically speaking. It is not D-Day at all. As for the spiritually inclined it is said there is a new evolution of Humanity being born, they look like us but are more advanced in there learning skills & abilities & is said will learn from Homosapiens mistakes. They are called Homoluminous, The Golden Ones, The Fourth Root Race & by the ancient Egyptian Seers of 500 b.c.e. The Better Race of Man who will discover the Great Hall of Records ( all a.k.a's), & will understand the contents. They will co-exist with homosapiens for a 100 > 200 years & we wil die out & they will inheret the Earth. So Mote It Be Done, (Sentinally Speaking) "Hail Destiny".
As for conspiracy theorists, Jesus returning & D-Day bemused, I think you'll be most disappointed & it's time to get a life if you life & decisions are based on as such in this paragraph. Blessed Be.

After reading the link I came to a conclusion of a possible planned mass suicide. Lines such as get friends that follow the digital reasoning, and the end of your physical state will end, and once you've opened the digital door you cant go back led me to this theory. It wont be all that will be doing this I think but just extremists of this theory.
Anyone else interperate this from reading the link above?

if it happens it happens , theres nothing we can do to stop it. nothing will happen though
