Honestly, I don't think so.  One Mayan calendar stopped on that day, but they had more than one calendar.  And other calendars continue past that day.

However, I would not mind if the world ended so that I would not have to pay back my college loans.  XD

I don't have a lot to say on the topic, other than "no".

this is silly... the world didn't end on 08-08-08... nor did it end on the millenium

It's definitely December 21st, that's the date of the Winter Solstice (Summer Solstice for us Down Under).

I've done a lot of research about this. Though I don't think the world will end on that date, I'm fairly certain something of cosmic importance will happen.

One theory is that the first time machine will be constructed on that date (doesn't seem so credible now, considering how far off we are technologically). According to certain scientific speculation, if a time machine were possible, we could never travel back in time to before it was created. So whichever date it was activated on would signal the end of history as we know it - as everyone from the future who had ever thought to go back to the time when the first Time Machine was created would appear at that instant.

There's a whole lot of interesting ideas surrounding the year 2012 if anyone wants to explore it.. Oh and the exact time of the Solstice for that year is 11:11 UTC. There's a whole thing around that number as well, the '11:11 enigma'.

The world will end when the diddlyroach queen eats her young. Now thats a theory.

I think I would rather an apocalypse to end the world. I've always said that if I'm going down I'm taking everyone else with me.

It does seem plausible that it be 2012, if Britain win the olympics on their home ground, it could probably bring the world to an end.

If we listened to every time someone said the world would end, we would all be petrified all the time. Over the last 8 years since the millenium they have said the world would end at least once a year or something stupid, it's a load of ole' rubbish, and if its not, there's nothing we can do about it anyway so there's no point in worrying.

Basically, if you see it all the time you're special in some way. At least, that's what they say. It's almost always tied to the 2012 apocalypse thing... I guess the people who see it are either supposed to play some role in the events or become the first to be enlightened (assuming it's a global enlightenment and not a global annihilation lol)

Interesting... I've had more than a passing fasination with synchronicity for a pretty long time.  Thanks for that page, it was worth the read if only in passing.

After reading the link I came to a conclusion of a possible planned mass suicide. Lines such as get friends that follow the digital reasoning, and the end of your physical state will end, and once you've opened the digital door you cant go back led me to this theory. It wont be all that will be doing this I think but just extremists of this theory.
Anyone else interperate this from reading the link above?

I pray it doesnt. I think that the myans just got tired of writing and said forget it.
