Hello all! Ciao! Moi! Hej! Zdrowy! Tere! Hola! Ohayoo!
One of the best things about Miss Bimbo is that it's a truly international community. I would love it if we could pay it forward and share our cultural and linguistic knowledge to anyone who is interested.
Are you learning a foreign language, but finding school a bit boring?
Are you thinking about foreign language studies, but aren't sure which language to pick?
Would you like some help with colloqial English, or any other language?
Are you frustrated when internet dictionaries just don't get it?
Are you really into Manga and want to get tips on how to learn Japanese?
Do you love Finnish Heavy Metal, and want to know what the lyrics say?
Are you looking for tips on University studies in any language?
Whatever you are into, I BET there is a Bimbo who can guide you into the language and culture. We just have to find her/him! There are people here from dozens of different countries, and there are thousands of us who speak different languages, and have different interests. Many of us study abroad, are bilingual, or even tri-lingual. We posess a lot of knowledge. I would like to start a project to pair you up with someone who has the same cultural interests as you do; ie with a Bimbo who knows both the language and subculture you are both interested in.
If you want a buddy: Just answer one question:
What language are you interested in and why?
The more reasons you give, the better!
I am also looking for Bimbos who think they have something to give about languages and cultures!
Would you want to be a language buddy to other Bimbos? If so, I'd love to hear from you in this thread or in a PM. It'd be great if you could tell me and other people why you'd be a good language buddy, and what your hobbies and interests are.
I would like you to answer one question though: Who would you be the best language buddy for?
Needed: buddies who speak Hungarian, Estonian, Freanch. People who are interested in teaching are especially welcome
Paired up :
MiriamX and cute_pink (Hindi)
Adrianaa and LolaLoveheart (English)
Vampie and MiriamX (Finnish)
pearl9999 and KittySaysMeow34 (Romanian)
Elyce and MiriamX (Japanese)
LadyNoelle and MiriamX (Japanese)

I might start by introducing myself. I speak Finnish (it's my mother tongue) Swedish (my second mother tongue) English (studied it for 10 years and then lived in the UK for almost ten years) studied Japanese at university, studied German, Italian, Latin and French at upper secondary school, etc etc. My hobbies are cooking, Cartoons (especially Donald Duck and Carl Barks in particular), reading (anything from Harry Potter to Political History), and writing.
I would be great as a language buddy for someone who is thinking about studying Japanese or English in the UK, and anyone who is thinking about Japanese studies in general. I don't know much about J-pop, though,
.

Hello there
I would like to be a buddy!
I think I can be a good language buddy cause I'm easy to deal with, straight-forward and an enjoyable person. I'm studying Arabic & French.
Cultures I know: Indian, Bengali/Bangladeshi
Languages I can speak: Bengali/Bangla (mother-tongue), Hindi/Urdu (comes naturally), English (very fluent in it).
I could be the best lang. buddy for people interested in India as I come from a similar country

Hello.
I am studying Germany and English.
I speak Serbian language, too.
But I want to know English perfectly.
MiriamX - Great topic!

I'd like to be a buddy and to also have a buddy
I can help anyone who needs some help with English as it is my mother tongue. I'm very good with the more colloquial side of English, so I can help in that area. I can also help with more formal English, or if people are interested in the English culture etc.
I'd like a buddy to help me with my German studies. I have been studying German for 2 years and sometimes struggle with it. I will be studying German for at least another year, possibly even the next two years. I'd like some help speaking some more colloquial German (I feel as if I speak the sort of German old people speak at the moment
). It would also be helpful if my German buddy could help me look at German universities, as it is currently something I really want to look into for my future

This is a wonderful idea MiriamX!
I want a language buddy who could teach me some Hungarian. I will study in Budapest next semester so it would be really useful to know something before I arrive there, and to get some practise and have someone to ask questions.
I would also like to practise Russian and Estonian, if there's anyone who knows these languages still on MB... Can I have many language buddies?
My native language is Swedish so I could help anyone who wants to learn it or just wants to practise. I studied French in university, and I speak some Estonian, I'm not really fluent but if anyone is curious about this beautiful language I would love to try and help
I study general linguistics now so I could also be a buddy for anyone who studies a language, when it comes to the more theoretical parts of it.

Haluan oppia suomea, koska se on kiva kieli.
I can help with Polish and maybe explaining some English grammar, but for conversational English I recommend native speakers.

I really was thinking about you when I posted this!
Do you want a buddy? I'm not hugely into heavy metal, but I might be able to find you one!!

Thanks to all of you for your thumbs-up for this thread, and especially MianaE who gave me a mod approval for starting it.
I'll try to scout for mentors. Russian is pretty impossible (and many of you know why...
) but I know one person - I'll try and scout her for you, if she's still here! And we need a Finnish metal fan for Vampie. But your Finnish is soo good that you should just come by our Finnish thread more often.
Cute_pink: I'm interested in Hindi! I just spent three weeks in India (Delhi, Kerala, Jaipur, Agra). Could I PM you about some basic stuff?
Don't forget to also check out the threads in the languages or cultures you are interested in.
I've pared up myself and cute_pink (on Hindi) and
Adrianaa and LolaLoveheart (English)

They don't have to be into metal... I have enough simple metal vocabulary from my favourite band.
I know how to summon the metal warriors and whatnot, but I need to improve normal Finnish
Actually I've been taking some lessons, but the beginnings are always so sloooow.

OKIE! I'll be your buddy. You can ask me about anything that you want explained. Including grammar. Otherwise you can just PM me n Finnish; I'll correct you and try to explain stuff.

I could really need a friend for basic french, I am really bad in grammar, like how to use être and Avoir, in passé composé etc...
I can help with a little english, otherwise I speak fluently danish, because I am a Dane
But I do not think, that there are many people, interested in the danish language.. I can also tell about the culture in Denmark, which is very interesting for some people, and I am very interested in the cultural differences around the world, so if anyone is interested in exchanging cultural differences, just mail me

I'll try to attract a French speaker for you, dear!
You never know; there might be a Bimbo somewhere who is DESPERATE to know Danish
!
I'm happy that people understand the casual idea of this thread. It's really hard to learn a language on your own on through the net, but having a buddy who you can ask anything about culture and language should help
!

Ahh, this thread pleases me! haha
Native: English
Intermediate: Spanish
And I know basic French.
I'd like to improve my Spanish and French. I'm also really obsessed with most languages (I was planning to be a linguist as my profession
) I'm also pretty interested in Arabic and Hindi. French is what I've really been hoping to improve on, Spanish isn't as enjoyable to me and it's embarrassing because I've got this Spain-Mexico dialect going on but I'd love to talk to anyone who'd like to.

Hello everybody!
Since I want to pass the DELF/DALF exam, I would love a language buddy who can speak French well and who knows how to explain little things, such as words, phrases and terms.
I have studied - and still studying - French for 3 years. My vocabulary is pretty good, and so is my grammar, I suppose. I would be delighted if someone would like to help me
And also, I'd love to help others. So, I can speak English fluently and Romanian is my native language (although I am pretty sure there is nobody interested in it haha).

OK guys! Sorry for the delay in everything! I've just gotten my connection up and running again, after much trial and tribulation.... I'll do some pairings in a bit
!!!

Honestly, we still need French speakers.
