That is really stupid! I think they are forgetting that a baby needs to be loved and cared for. All of that for a baby shower. It's sick and a shame for the baby. When he/she grows up they probably not know who their father is and will probably never meet him. This could cause lots of problems for the mother and child in later life. It's just sad.

There are lots of girls all over the world that get pregnant for many reason (ignorance, seeking love/family, trying to get a guy to commit, etc.). None of these reason are new. We can't sit here and say why these children got pregnant. Yes, it's tragic, for the mothers, babies and the grandparents, but we can't sit here, comdenming them based on a news story that has been sensationalized. Not only has it been blown out of proportion but the story was FALSE to begin with. We can't say what kinds of mother's these girls will be. Some may be the irresponsible, stereotypical teen mom's so many in this thread expect them to be others may actually realize the magnitude of what has happened to them and come out all right. We don't know.

I don't think the pact - real or not - is the issue. Of course it's a headline grabber, but at the end of the day, 17 kids are pregnant - something has to be wrong somewhere. They're either unaware of contraception or the enormity of having a child and they're being let down by either parents or the education system. Or they're choosing to ignore the facts made available to them.
And we can't tar them all with the one brush - some of them may be good mothers. But it's hardly ideal anyway - at that age, they have a heck of a lot of growing up still to do.

When i knew this I couldn't believe it. This is totally sad and why not: Pathetic.

I'm 28 and have an 8 month old and at the beginning it was a struggle for me. sleep deprevation etc i nearly went into postnatal depression but my doctor was fantastic and caught it quick.my son is 8 months and he still doesnt sleep the whole night some nights its really hard to keep your patience especially now he's teething and i'm use to children i've been working with them for nearly 15 yrs. these girls are 16 they will only cope if there parents help out alot day and night other wise god help those precious babies

This makes me angry.
I want to slap them all.
About 17 Girls make a pact to get pregant, with one becoming pregnant by a 24 year old homeless guy and then high five and plan baby showers after finding out.
"They're so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally,"
They don't seem to realise that when the child grows up it might not love them as much, considering how they're still in school and alone. And they may regret this decision when the baby is keeping them up all night pooping, crying and occasionally vomiting.
Great choice.
Idiots.
Normally I can stand most pregnant teenagers.
But not these girls.
Anyone else got any opinions.
I think this deserves a poll

Oh my goodness why won't this tread just die?
There was no pact!
This story has been over for months.
A mod really needs to close this thread so this piece fiction can stop being spread around.

ummm lets see, naah, i dont want a puppy, maybe i should have a kid instead. ( sarcasm)
im sorry, no matter what who says, that was just plain stupid of them, they are still young, with their whole lives ahead of them, and they go do something like this, please, and you cant tell me everyone of those girls have a bad family life. i think it was just attention seeking.
im 25 with a baby, got a great job, went to college, got a fantastic fiance, and im still battling, now tell me how a kid is going to cope with that.
i feel sorry for those babies, just hope the mommies and daddies will help take care of the innocent little dears ( not sarcasm)

Ok, so by today's standards this is stupid, uncompihensible and unaccetable. But think, our bodies were made so that we could bear children, the earlier the better. It is just today's society that frowns on messing up your future by having kids when you should be studying in school.
Why do you think teenagers are mad on sex? It's in our genes, and my cousin who had a baby when she was 18, said that the birth was really easy, and I can belive that because the younger you are, the more flexible you are, and the easier it is to spring back into shape after actually having the baby.
Plus, the younger you are to start to have babies, the more you can have, and the longer you can look after them. I don't see why people would want to have babies when they are old, because they will not be able to raise them, to have kids of their own.
Having our period is a mark of womanhood, that is our ability to carry our species on, and ideally, if you are psycologically ready, maybe you should go on and have kids. Regardless of your age.
I would like to point out that I do not want teenagers having lots of babies ( I am a teenager myself ), I am just pointing out that this epidemic is slightly less shocking than we realise, because it is in our genes.
Please don't think I am crazy or stupid or anything. I am just considering another point of view.
Peace out!

I another thread you say you are 18 and have a 3 year old son. So how can you judge people who have kids young?

i dont think she is judging them?? what she said was that she feels sorry for them beacause they have nobody to love, i think what she meant was if they really wanted somebody to love them, rather get a dog instead of thinking that having a baby would make it all better and give them somebody to love......if that makes sense.
not that i agree with what they did, i still think it is stupid of them

Stupid girls...

Wow, I've never heard of such a thing before. Why would these girls do such a thing? To get pregnant UNDER 16? Don't you usually hear about teenage girls trying NOT to get pregnant? Clearly, these girls have the wrong idea about motherhood and maternal love. I suppose some teenage mothers could theoretically be better parents then adults though. They think they can handle it at the prime age of 16? Who was the brains behind that idea? The notion that "Juno" and "Knocked Up" (mostly Juno) caused this sort of idea is stupid and probably true. Any girl who thinks that that is exactly what pregnancy and motherhood is like should be punched in the face.

hmm.. i disagree with the girls its a entierly stupid thing to do and carry out. and sleeping with a 24yr old homeless guy is un acceptable
although i wont judge them, i know how it feels to yurn for someone to love you, and at times it seems like a baby will shake all your problems away.. it kinda gives you a perpous off life when you feel you dont have one. so i guess if it was the reason that they wanted to be loved and wanted to love a baby i could understand. because i have been there were i desparetlly wanted a baby and im only 15! im glad that i had somebody talking me out off it all and i wished they had to x
