Re: Recipes & Cooking!

I've never even heard of a black cake before.  I find it so interesting that you wait months for it.  And here I thought Miss Bimbo was teaching me patience!

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

FANCY TASTIC!  OMFG that looks awesome but I am wayyy too scared to try it (I have bad luck with things that must set out too long big_smile).  NOM NOM NOM.

I'm so out of it.  I don' tknow why but I bought a big tub of masarpone cheese.  I have never had it.  I got it into my head to make icing with it for a japanese-style fancy cake.  It was like I was posessed. Now that I have it I'm wondering why on earth I bought it.

Also if one whipps whipped cream, can it be an icing?

I'm really out of it tra la la back to my books tra la la...

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

Mmm, mascarpone. The last time I had mascarpone I mixed it with lemon zest and honey, made pancakes and spread the cheese on and put peaches on top. I want that right now...

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

Sorry, ladies, I haven't been by much lately. I'm trying to behave myself and talking about food makes it harder. I know that eating right doesn't have to be boring, but I'm just kind of dissatisfied with myself right now, which isn't conducive to an excellent food-experimentation environment.

If you challenge me, watch it, because I won't. I have enough wins to carry me through to level 25, and expecting me to watch 150+ challenges when I'm on the list is ridiculous.

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

That sounds like a really cool cake Ciara! What exactly is an After Eight?  I'm assuming it a minty chocolate? No idea really.

Thanks for stopping by! Come around more often!

1. put the owen on 200
2. grease a baking thing (with removable front)
3. mix eggs and sugar until it's soft
4. mix everything else except for the sour creme and the lime pell.
5. add the sour creme in the boul with the lime pell second.
6. mix everything.
7.put in the baking thing.
8. straight into the oven for about 20-25 minutes. put the cake in the lower half of the oven.
9. it should be a bit greasy in the middle.
10. put a few pieces of lime on the top. (optional).
11. enjoy and since it's very light you could serve it with whipped creme, right? wink

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

Phew!  So many recipes!  I'll be updating the front page now.

Looks like we might have to start dividing up the "Sweets" section.  big_smile

Ada--Awww, I'm sorry you haven't been up to experimenting and feeling fancy.  Mucho huggos!  Go eat some nommysnacks and play loads of MMOs!!!!

Oh and a little warning--I've been going off my SSRIs which means that I'm a little fuzzy headed (I've been taking one pill every two days, then every three days, then every four.... trying to stretch it out till I can quit 100%).  So please excuse me if I start acting really weird.  big_smile

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

Another note:  Aside from acting funny I haven't been on MissBimbo too often lately, so!

A HUGE belated hello to all the new people who have begun posting here (you know who you are big_smile) and THANK YOU for the recipes!  We're getting quite the collection!!!

There are so many recipes I'm wondering if there is a better way of organizing things, or labeling stuff with "new" when something comes in...

Hmm... what do you think?

Minibrutus--HONEY.  HONEY AND MASARPONE.  I think I have hit upon what I'm going to do with that cake.  Thank you for your inspiration <3 and I'll tell y'all how it goes big_smile

Ooh, I didn't see your first message--oops!!! big_smile  Thank you for the thank you, haha.

Two stars... hmm.... Oh, that makes me think there could be a recipe rating system!!! XD  Though I'm not sure who'd do the rating.  I will think on this *O*

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

Okay, i know none of us speak Italian.... but I have this recipe that looks cute to try, and none of it is in English. I popped it into babel fish, and I get the gist of the recipe, but I can't figure out what a few of the ingredients are.

Here's the picture:
http://www.fiordisale.it/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/biglie-di-riso-al-limone-0.jpg

I can't figure out from the ingredients what the green stuff is. I hope it's basil or baby spinach and not watercress because I hate watercress....

Here's the recipe in Italian:

Ingredienti per 4 persone
250 g di riso
1 limone
100 g di parmigiano
1 spicchio d’aglio
1 ciuffo di prezzemolo
1 cucchiaio di capperi sottaceto
4 cucchiai d’olio extravergine

And here's my direct translation:

Ingredients for 4 persons
250 g of rice
1 lemon
100 g of $parmesan
1 segment of garlic
1 forelock of prezzemolo
1 spoon of capers sottaceto
4 oil spoons extravergine
little fiordisale (more it knows them for the baking of the rice)
1 generous izzico of pepper

Lessare the rice in a pot with abundant salata water, then to drain it and to leave it to intiepidire spreading it on a wide tray. In a ciottola emulsionare the oil, the juice and the grattugiata rind of a lemon, therefore to add prezzemolo and the garlic tritati. it knows them and the pepper. With this salsina to flavor the rice, adding the grattugiato $parmesan. To form, with the obtained compound, of the littles ball of the largeness of a walnut. In the event the presentation was wanted to be harmonized, they can be cut to thin fettine ulterior lemons and be supported on ciascuna slice a little ball of rice decorated with a caper.

So, please, someone! Help me out. what is prezzemolo and what is fiordisale?

Re: Recipes & Cooking!

prezzemolo haft to be freshly chopped parsley since you apperently use it in pesto. wink fiordisale could be salt perhaps?  raw salt or sea salt? sorry I don't really know Italian but I'm deffintly sure about the first word.
