I love this topic!!
My whole life has been full of paranormal experiences. I'm 25 now, but all of this started when I was just a babe.
The first story was told to me by my father. I was 2 or 3 years old at the time.....I walked into my parent's bedroom and told them "there's an owl at the window and he wants me to let him in" My father got up to put me back to bed and he said there was a creature standing at the window, large eyes very 'owlish' in appearance. He has no clue what it was, but he was sure glad I didn't let it in.
After my parents divorced we moved into a new house with a new step dad and I was pretty sure this house was haunted. The vacuum cleaner constantly came on by itself and in my mom's bedroom the tv came off and on and her door would slam open or closed. The one thing that sticks out most was, we were having a family meeting and my mom says "We just need more money" and as soon as she finished that sentenced a nickel falls out of no where and hits the middle of the dining table.
I was at my dad's house playing in the yard with my older sister when we noticed his girlfriend's license plate had those infamous numbers,666. I dared my sister to say them out loud 3 times. She did! That's when the wind began to blow only in our front yard so we ran to the backyard and it followed us there. We ran into the house and hid in the living room when we heard someone knock on the door **knock knock knock** just like that and it would pause and knock 3 times again. We peeked out the window and there was no one there! We got on our knees prayed to God to make it stop and as quickly as it began, it was over.
At my dad's house again this time I was a year or 2 older. We had a great dog named Emily, she was getting on in years so we weren't really surprised when she came up missing. We all figured she found a place to die. So when my dad comes running out of his bedroom excited and asking where we found Emily we were a little confused. My dad said that he saw her walking down the hallway. Not 5 minutes went by before my baby sister came running over saying she found Emily under the shed, dead.
In this same house my baby sister says that in the bathroom someone would try to talk to her from under the sink. I can't validate that one, but wouldn't that be freaking creepy?

Ok! Older and wiser!
I still have paranormal experiences, but I try to think about them from a rational, logical standpoint. About 3 years ago I was living in a new apartment in a whole new city hours away from anyone I knew. I was laying in bed, almost asleep when I heard outside my bedroom door that strangest noise. The only way I could describe it is, it sounded like a plastic cup full of pencils hitting a hardwood floor. The whole house, save the kitchen was carpet. I opened up my door there was nothing there.
Same apartment;
I came home from work at 11pm, my husband and daughter were fast asleep. I went and checked on my daughter and shut the door (She was a very light sleeper, so she always had to have the door shut or she would wake up) I picked up my cat brought him into bed with me and he fell asleep on my chest. I woke up at 3am to my daughter screaming and crying like I never heard her cry before. I went in her room to see what was the matter and Sammy, my cat, was sitting in front of her crib just staring at her. I have no idea how he got in there.
January '08, it was a year almost to the day of my husband's grandfather passing away. (we didn't realize this until after everything happened) My daughter was taking forever to fall asleep and finally she did at 1am.....so I go to bed as well. I shut the door and close my eyes when I hear the door knob start to rattle. I sit up thinking it was either the cat playing or my kid getting up again. There was no shadow under the door, I think it's a little strange, but there HAS to be an explanation. Still sitting up staring at the door and it opens. No one is there! So I do the kid thing and cover my head with a blanket. The door continues to slam shut and open, with the door knob rattling the whole time. This goes on for about 30 minutes. I finally fall asleep. The next morning my husband(He's a HUGE skeptic BTW, never believes my stories) tells me that he was making breakfast and packing his lunch for the day when he hears "hello" he goes out to the living room and sees my daughter's toy vacuum. (When you push it, it says "hello" and then makes vacuum noises. It kept saying "hello" over and over with no vacuum noises. My husband thinking it was just from him walking around and it set the toy off so he kicks it around and what not and it wouldn't say anything. When he walks away again it says "hello" It turns out that the toy was in the 'off' position.

I like that story with your hubby's granfather... that's a nice reassuring way of his grandpa to say hello...

Yea that's what we thought too...his passing was very sad. He had a stroke and everyone thought he was going to be fine. He went into surgery to have a shunt put in and then he fell into a coma and was in it for almost 4 weeks before he passed. Though he woke up on Christmas Eve for about 15 minutes and was able to tell everyone he loved them.

That's real awful... I wouldn't want an end like that...hmm..
My cousin died about a month ago in a motorbike accident.
He lives in a very racist nation and the driver who hit him walks free because of his race and religion and lots of bribes.
Anyway, before he died I kept seeing him in my dreams and thought a lot about him.
In that dream, we were having dinner together with his family and it was a little odd as his mother who passed away year before was eating at the table too.
After dinner, he said to me he's just 'going away for a little while' and then the next morning my mum sent me a text to ring her ASAP and that was when I found out he died.

These days it happened to me...
I was nursing my grait-ount, she is weak and old. One night around 3 am, I heard footsteps in the house, and I know floors do get sqicky, but it made no other sound before or after the event. Tomorow, ount said that her late sister, my grany, "was coming to visit her"...
Few nights later I woke up because I felt a light touch on my face and hair. I know I wasn't dreaming. I turned around with a smile to see who's there - and, you guess, noone was.
I'm not scared a bit, but it's still spooky.

I'm a pretty big skeptic with everything like this but there are two things I just can't explain. The first is in a house we lived in about 10 years ago. We had a cat at the time (Sparky) but she always slept on my bed. My brother's room was across the hall and on his nightstand he kept our cat Mischief's collar. Mischeif had died about six or seven years prior from cat leukaemia and she and my brother were absolute best friends. Anyway, quite often at night he'd feel a cat jump on his bed and walk around in circles and eventually settle on his feet and start purring. Only when he'd look down to give them a pat, there was no cat there and the feeling of pressure would vanish. As I said, our current cat was always asleep on my bed, with my door closed.
The second thing happens in our house now, which we've lived in for about 5 years and it was only a year old when we moved into it. About once a fortnight, for three or four nights in a row, everyngiht when I got into bed I'd hear the exact noise of a light switch being turned on, only louder. It's actually quite a distinct noise if you have the kind of switch we have. It would repeat over and over again with about 10 or 20 seconds in between. No lights would come on though and if I'd get up to check it out, it would stop. It would only ever happen when I was home alone too. I switched bedrooms about six months ago because my brother moved out and his old room was bigger. I haven't heard it since. Not particularly scary but it did freak me out a bit.
Lastly, I had this dream which I already described in the "Nightmares" thread but I'll post again here just because it scared me so much. In my dream, I dreamt I woke up in bed and my bedroom door was ajar and I could see a faint, flickering light coming from down the hall. I got out of bed and followed the light down to my bathroom, I could even feel the cold tiles on my feet it was so real, and when I got down to the bathroom there was a single tealight candle burning in the bottom of my shower. At this point I was overwhelmed with terror because I knew that something was definately in my house and that it was going to hurt me. I went back to bed, got in and that was when I woke up for real. I was absolutely drenched in sweat and was so scared I couldn't move and I still had the feeling there was something in my bedroom and if I moved it would hurt me, almost not physically but that it would somehow hurt my soul. I'm actually tearing up thinking about it now. I've been threatened with a knife before but that didn't even come close to how much this terrified me. I still can't really explain it and it didn't really feel like a dream at all.

When I was about 5 (My mom tells me I can't remember back that far) I woke up in the middle of the night and my teddy had fallen on the ground. I saw a woman who had a strange glow around her pick it up and hand it back to me. The next morning I asked my parent who she was I explained what she looked like to my mum and dad. It turned out I had described my dads mother who had died when my dad was a child. I couldn't have known what she looked like as I'd never been told about her and any pictures that I might have come across were in black& white so I wouldn,t hae know about her bright red hair.
Also this one happened quite recently. About a month ago I went to Edinburgh. I went on one of theese graveyard ghost tours. The graveyard was where greyfriars booby was some might of heard of it. A little dog called bobby who sat on his masters grave years after he died disney made two movies about it. Well it was also where the english tortured the scottish covenentors and is meant to be one of the most haunted places in scotland. The tour ended in the Black mausoleam which was one of the cells the second you stepped in the temperature completely dropped. I kept getting this feeling like someone was touching my face and rubbing against me. The next day my back was killing me I had three long parallell cuts down my back it looked like someone had dug there fingernails into me. I still have 3 marks on my back.

You can defenitely remember quite far. I remember some things from when I was about 2 or 3. I didn't know what they were at that time but they're usually places and people..

Ok, I belive in the paranormal, but not stuff like "most haunted" that's on TV. That's SOOO staged!
I personaly haven't had any paranormal experiences, but my mum seems quite tunned into her 6th sence or whatever you want to call it. She has feelings about things all the time, and she's often right.
One of the weirdest things that happend to my mam, years ago, was that for months whenever she went to date a cheque, she wrote the wrong date. It was always the same wrong date that she wrote: a date months in the future. She didn't know why she kept doing it, but she did.
When that date finally came, huge storms hit England (where mum's from, she lives in scotland now). Some of the worst on record. Buildings were destroyed, there was thousands of £s worth of damage, people were injured, and some killed.
Mam got a horrible shock that day, when she realised why she had been writing that date. After the day passed she never wrote that date again.
I kid you not!

If you remember the Tsunami that hit South East Asia about 4 years ago?
Well, my husband had terrible dreams about it and he left Malaysia on Christmas eve to come back to London and I was stuck in Malaysia because of the darn Tsunami..
I shouldve listened to him!

Guys I'm of a scientific mind too. I have a biological sciences degree, but some stuff just can't be explained with current thinking.
Anyway, I was wondering how much you know about poltergeists. Poltergeists: A ghost that manifests itself by noises, rappings, and the creation of disorder.
I'm quite interested in the paranormal, and I've read a bit about it. I have read that poltergeist activity is mainly witnessed by teenages, partuicularly those going through puberty that are dealing with a lot of stress in their lives.
It's been suggested that if someone is the victim of poltergeist attacks, they themselves may be unconciously responsible for the attacks.
In other words they are expressing their pent up feelings externaly, without their own knowledge. So a poltergeist may not even be a ghost, but the result of a living person's extreme emotions.
I know this isn't conventionaly scientific, but an interesting theory none the less. One that I would like to see PROPERLY investigated before I pass judgement on its credibility.

This is so weird.
I hear sounds all the time.. I never thought anything about pent up feelings though as these sounds are real and sometimes terrifying.
Sometimes they are real voices and sometimes like something being dragged across the floor.
Sometimes they're floorboard creeks which is impossible as I have stone floors!!!!!

Might not be you, just a theory I read somewhere. But maybe there is some truth in it if no matter where you are you always have weird experiences?

Yes.. I dont remember since when though... but like sounds used to scare the day lights out of me now I'm slowly getting used to it.
I had my first vision 6 months ago.. It was weird and i even checked my contact lenses...
Only a couple of nights ago there was grunting in my bedroom while I was on my own..
It freaked me out though..
My cat can see 'things'...
Sometimes whenever I can hear the sound and turn towards it. I find my cat hissing or vibrating his jaws at blank air.. sometimes at a wall or in my hallway...
I pointed it out to my husband... he's a right little scaredy cat.. he ran across the road to my neighbours house! haha..

Hmm, animals do seem more in tune with the paranormals. My mam told me that when her and grandma (her mam) were in their old house, their dog just started barking like crazy at a chair in the room. He wouldn't shut up, and it wasn't in his nature to do that. They were a bit scared by that.

Not that I'm aware of, but I'd love to see some proper research done into it.
In fact I'd love to be the one doing the research! That would be such a rewarding fascinating job!

Maybe someday I'd see you on TV doing a talk on that.. I'd look forward to that!!

Me too! Lol that would be so cool! I don't know how you could go about researching something like that, but it would certainly be interesting!

my cat acts pretty humanish most of the time but sometimes she gets these mad fits of just running. from me, from nothing sometimes. darts back and forth. i always wonder if she sees something i dont. but cats will make toys from nothing wont they? i dont know.
one thing weird was the other month. i was upstairs in a computer room with my friend. he had been to the bathroom and taken his gloves off. i have a similar pair. he sat down back at the pc. i went u to the bathroom and sorta wandered into my parents room on the way back like i do sometimes, and i saw a leather glove on he floor that i guessed must have been mine, but the studs were round, so i was like "luke why the heck is your glove in mums room?" coz like it was over the other side of the room. he would have to have literally thrown it over there and he certainly did not. its a bit weird. he didnt go in my parents room either. thatd just be odd. lol

As with your cat darting around for no reason.. sometimes cats chase their own shadows and one of mine growls at cigarette smoke..

Here's a creepy one:
My parents have this "two-season room", it used to be a big back porch until they put up some wall and big windows.
Anyway, there are two windows in our kitchen facing the back porch (we still just call it the "back-porch"). One evening, my brother and I were out playing on the "back-porch" when I happened to glance at one of the windows facing the kitchen. I saw the silhouette of a lady - and somehow I was convinced it was an *old* lady - just staring at us! When I looked back at my brother he was staring at the window in shock too. We'd both seen it; it wasn't just my imagination. Needless to say, for a long time we were too scared to even step foot on the back porch.
