Hi everyone, I have a question....
I'm a primary school teacher, but taking a break from teaching at the moment to stay at hme with my 10 month old son. However, I've been asked by a friend of a friend if I could tutor her son for an hour a week as he's a bit behind at school. I'm really excited about it, but I have no idea what to charge?
Does anyone else use a tutor/tutor someone? What do you pay/charge?
Thanks!

18 weeks! youre almost halfway there!
ginger (ginger ale, ginger cookies, etc.) is supposed to help ease the nausea of morning sickness
i was lucky, i never had full blown morning sickness during all 3 of my pregnancies. my last pregnancy, i had a touch of nausea that last for about 30 minutes each day in my 2nd trimester

Hi Jenna,
What is a "hen's weekend"?

my son has another tooth coming in too. hes been running a low grade fever the past couple of days and has been grouchy as all get out. I looked and sure enough, the area to the right of his front right bottom tooth, you can see where it is just beginning to cut thru

LOL! I have a niece who will be 2 in October. Every time I get her all "girlified" (nice outift, shoes, etc.) I get her hair up in little ponytails with ribbons that match her outfit.......about 2 minutes later, the ribbons are out and her hair is every where LOL!

Good Morning Moms
My little man turns 1 on Tuesday. But he still gets up about 2:00 am and will not go back to sleep unless he is in the bed with his daddy and me. Iv tried just leaving him in his bed and he screamed for 2 hrs. I tried rocking him back to sleep and putting him back in his bed
2 mins later he is back up screaming. We both work full time and we need sleep so we just put him in the bed with us. I dont know what else try. He is very stubborn like his Daddy. Any ideas?

how many naps does he take during the day? I would try and cut out the nap closest to his bedtime. by the time bedtime rolls around, maybe he will be too tired to fight it.
also, try giving him a bath close to bedtime using the lavendar/chamomile baby wash. then use the lavendar/chamomile lotion on him afterwards. that helps calm and soothe my son. maybe that might work for you?
my little guy turns 1 a week from saturday, but he has been sleeping thru the night and in his own bed (tho its in our room) since he was 3 weeks old.
but, ive also cut his naps down during the day. he takes a morning nap, about an hour and a half long then he takes an afternoon nap about 2 - 3 hours long. then hes asleep by 9 pm and will usually sleep til 7-8 am

i've never had to do this for night-time sleep, but a friend sugested a technique called "controlled crying" where you let them cry for 5 minutes, go in and settle them and go out of the room again, next time leave it 10 minutes before you go in, then 15 etc increasing by 5 mns each time. The baby will eventually get the message that crying isn't going to get them anywhere and give up. It might take a few nights but the result will be worth it in the end. It is hard not to give in, but I used it for Ollie's daytime naps and he's so much happier now he's getting a decont nap in his own bed rather than in the pram or on me etc. Maybe you could try it over the weekend or take a few days off work so your sleep isn't too disturbed!
Hope it works!

I found that I craved green apples and oranges during my first trimester. Maybe it was a vitamin c thing? Saying that I had morning sickess constantly all the way through my pregnany, I actaully weighed less after I'd had Ollie than I did before I got pregnant I was that sick! Nothing really helped it, but just bear in mind the wonderful result at the end of it!

I do childcare and tutoring for a living. I don't know where you live or anything but here in Oregon the going rate is between $15 and $35. I charge $20/hr just because I don't feel it is appropriate to charge a rediculous amount when our children are our future and every child, regardless of income, deserves to have a good education and a future.

I found that this really worked for me, but only after I bought her a night light and left a few toys in there to entertain her. Now I hear her wake up sometimes but she is never crying she just usually plays with her toys. Then falls asleep a few minutes later.
On the other hand though I have an older daughter who would sneak into my bed and I would wake up in the morning surprised to see her there. My husband was the one that put the stop to this one night when she was about three-years-old he said "No, you sleep in you bed" he then closed the door (after putting a child proof door handle on it) then he came back in our room, put his arms around me and the two of us sat on the edge of our bed for 20min until she fell asleep. But since that night she has not once slept in my bed. It was tough love on both our parts but it worked.

Thank You for the great ideas. Some I have tried and some I havent. Wish me luck.
