A. I'm religious.
B. I don't think I'm a fanatic.
C. I really am sorry for anyone who says that to you. It's not any "christian's" place to say whether or not you're going to heaven. It's God's. Many Christian's love to overlook the best verse in the Bible:
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?God will judge those outside... (1 Corinthians 5:12-13)
D. I don't care (well I kinda do, but not for this argument) if you believe in the Bible or not, but I HATE it when "fundamentalists" think it's OK to essentially mock my God by doing terrible things like that. I'm sorry.
E. I hope I do make it pass "judgment" day. But I guess it's not really my call.
TOTAL AGREEMENT!!! Esp. with C. Thank u for having said that. I always tell people C. too.

Yes, but what if intentionally hurting one person or one's self would save the lives of others? What would God say then?
Ask him sometime and see what he says about it.
Heehee, if there was any evidence of his possible existence I'd consider your statement a valid one.
*edit* I just thought of all the fabulous arguments I could unleash but will refrain because it would be too time consuming to banter back and forth with people. Plus, I have to finish my syllabus and lesson plan for the month. If only, if only. Still it's great that this thread has remained civil, as most of the threads about religion do not.

But there IS evidence, you have obviously never seen "Banana: The Atheist's Nightmare."

Yeah, I thought that Revelations was a bunch of letters sent about the up coming battle with the romans. And the number of the Beast (616) stands for Nero.
Either way, I'm an athiest and don't believe there is such thing as Heaven or Hell. I studied the different theories in my Ethics of Religion course. I was probably also the completely wrong person to take it because I just disagreed with most of the religious ideas. I think, as long as you live a good life, then even if you don't believe (and if there is or is not a God) then you will live well in the afterlife whatever that might be.
Dhaly: Thank you for quoting Corinthians. I knew there was one about not preaching to those who don't believe but couldn't remember it.
The religious fanatics that really do my head in are the ones who believe that being in the army makes you gay. And also the ones that force their views upon their children. Poor kids.

Some of you are crazy, crazy people.
I invite you all to join my cult of grazing cows.
But it's totally optional.
(Aside from that, I think some of you are taking things a tad too seriously. Not even people who DO follow a religion, but more the people insisting it's a sham. Let people believe what they want.)

whats nero
Who is Nero...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nero
Last emperor of Rome. Quite terrible really.
Nope, certainly wasn't the last! (guess you didn't read the page you linked to lol)
All the emperors were pretty terrible actually. The united Roman Empire had at least 147 emperors, Nero was the fifth of these. Ever wondered why so much of the world is Christian? It's because from the time of Constantine onwards (around 300AD), virtually all the emperors were Christians themselves. So instead of burning Christians like they used to they turned to burning Pagans. Instead of fighting wars in the name of the Roman Gods, they fought wars in the name of Jesus. etc. etc.

Well, according to the Christian Bible, I wouldn't pass. I think I've already done some things that repenting wouldn't excuse, and I have no intention of repenting anyway because I don't think I've done anything wrong.
So... by my OWN standards... yes, I believe I would pass. I am a good person.

Ω - Actually, if the world does end in 2012 that means the Christians were wrong ... and if that's the case we better start apologizing to Ah Puch (the Mayan god of Death) for being so terribly terribly wrong about the religion thing

I don't really get judgement day because surely no one will go, no one is 100% perfect 100% of the time.
Surely someone telling you your going to hell condems them as well as you?

lol, who knows. why not wait to see instead of worrying about it.

Me as a Christian believes if you accept God you go to heaven. It's as simple as that. The thing is if you accept God you try not to sin because you don't want to, not because you then have to be perfect.
