Very cool! I love it! How did you do that stomach see-through shimmer material? Oh yea, I don't know if I've ever asked you before, but do you use Photoshop?
Yes, I do. I belong to the lucky few non-professionals, who have the chance to use Photoshop Professional, but I must say, the Elements version is also a very good design tool.
The see through shimmer material is actually a simple thing, you just need an app with a layers function, then you can change the opacity.
BTW, I'm glad to see that there are so many creative and talented bimbos out there.

it was a bunch of rubbish anyway. School is such a timewaste. it isn't a learning curve, it's torture ! as for Graphics, again I was too slow so I got booted off lol. wasn't that fun anyway !
It is possible to take inspiration from another artist without copying their art...
But I agree, doing art at school is too much about jumping through hoops to get the marks. Sometimes it isn't about how good you are, but how much you do, sketch book and experimentation-wise. It's a shame really because I really enjoy art if it weren't for all this...

Hi! I
editing, can I be a part of your guild too please? Glad it's not called a 'Cleek' anymore. What is it with that anyway? I really don't like that fact that they purposely misspelled the word 'clique'. I know a lot of missbimbo users aren't native English speakers, but I'm sure those who don't understand the word could look it up. It's like the word 'Chic', it's not spelled 'sheek', and people understand that. Sorry, rant over!
Anyway, just to get in the mood of the Editor's Guild, here's my latest piece of digital art...
I'm hoping to get a graphics tablet for my birthday, so I know I have a lot of work still to do. I'm just enjoying playing around atm.

Gosh, I love art too but sometimes I think a classroom not only restricts but stifles imagination. Sure technique and portfolio and whatnot is important. But at the end of the day, I hate it when another instructor tries to restrict what artwork I choose to produce.
Meh, so I just doodle on my own. I did studio art in high school but I just draw for fun

Picture of DeathAngelThat's really beautiful Mouse!! Wow, the Death Angel in particular, that looks very grim. It actually made me wince a little bit. He looks very old. Do you draw often? What do you do, anyway (for a living)? p.s. your elvin eyes are beautifully done!

Thanks for linking my thread. ^_^ Didn't know your guild was for art too, I thought you were only for editing photos and pics.

Why hello *peeks in*
Can't read the whole thing right this second but a certain MissMM has asked that I post this from a different thread: http://www2.missbimbo.com/forum/t58624, … toshop.htm
(I'm trying to brush up on my photoshop drawing skills and my ability with a tablet, and since the last few digital paintings I did were utter crud, I decided I'd use MB as a base for a new outfit :3)
and this is what I mean about my last thing not turning out awesome.
GUCK, that HAND. I have big issues with tablets and still have probs with color theory.
Will say more later once I have read all your lovely bimbo's previous posts! I don't want to make a butt of myself :3

wow ! I actually LOVE the second one, there's nothing wrong with the hand
!

All you need to fix that hand is to bring the index finger closer to the foreground and more shading around where the hand curls. Take a look at your own hand, and you'll see what I mean. As it stands, it does seem like her index finger is pointing WAY back, but it's a really good piece of work.
Editing to say: I've never worked with a tablet; I'm just a hand drawing fanatic.
Edit #2: I love the colours you used on the skin. So many just shade by adding black -- yay for the purple tones!

wow : D i got a question since I have photoshop and a tablet but when I try and make clothes on a bimbo I use 2 layers (one that has the bimbo doll and the second that is on top of the first one is blank so I can draw the clothes on it) well when I try to fill in the outline of the clothes I always get a gross inner out line of white.
ex.
So how do you get around that I always keep messing up and don't know how to fix it or can find an easy tutorial to understand how to fix it.

Phew, so I finally read the thread. Gotta get off MB quick but I will see what I can do in a short amt. of time.
C.S.--what are you using to make your selection? Using auto-selects rarely works, and I'm too lazy to do the persnicketty selection-making PS requires. So the way I did it for MB (I have only done that once, after all) and the way I have done it on the rare occasions I've tried to color is this;
I make a line layer, using lines as similar to MB or the rest of my drawing as possible. I don't quite know what the designers on MB use so I fudge factored it. Using this line layer, I make my... well... lines. Draw your skirt, or your pants, or what have you. Then, when you are ready to color, make another layer. Put this layer on underneath the line layer, but above the MB image that is your canvas, and color. Erase anything that goes outside the lines. I personally shaded on the same layer that I colored on because that is how my mind works, but you can easily put in another layer.
I don't quite know how to edit existing clothing without redrawing the bits I want edited; I'm impatient like that and hate just fiddling with tweaky bits to get them to do what I want. Its frustrating.
Is this helpful?
On Art School--I went (well I went to Uni and got 2 degrees, art being one of them). Most students aren't that great, quite frankly, even the good ones (then again, I wasn't at a proper art school). Couldn't stand the atmosphere.
If you have a good professor, you WILL get ideas to inspire you, or, barring that, bad ideas will be given that you can get pumped about because that's what good professors do. I appreciated it also for the fact that it gave me time to do art and a reason to do it well. I am a perfectionist to begin with, so sometimes I will avoid working on art because the self-absorbed sort of world I have to get in to do my work to my standards can become a bit of a downer (teachers have broken me of this a little but not by much lol). And of course, if there is even the slightest WHIFF of competition, I had to beat it. Into the ground. A hundred times.
I'm still not that great, and unless I start actually practicing more than once or twice every couple months (or you know, finishing things), I will never get to the good illustrator level. But college improved me. And think of it this way: though art school isn't NEEDED to get you a career art, higher ed. also isn't TECHNICALLY needed to begin a career in business, writing, marketing, counseling, design, translation, or anything outside of the sciences, really (it is tougher, but not at all impossible).
Art profs, in my experience, fall into one of three categories. They are either incredibly jaded, bored, or crazy. Since the crazy ones are crazy, let's look at the others:
The Bored Ones: These guys know the college system. They want their time to do art research/artwork, and they don't particularly care for the kids. You aren't getting learning out of these folks, because they don't want to teach. They don't want to be there. End of story. Unless you can rightly show them that you are great and shock them out of their ennui, they probably won't lift a finger to help you.
The Jaded one is different, and I sort of sympathize.
Students now rarely come to college grounded in any of the "art basics," and the art basics are typically presented in such a boring way that no one wants to listen. Consequently, most art students.... well I'm going to be perfectly blunt. At my school at least, they suck. I met students who didn't know the color wheel. Students who didn't get the idea of drawing from life if they couldn't figure out something from their head. Students who could do fine copying from a resource... but ONLY when they were copying from a resource. Students who took art because mummy and daddy wanted them to go to college and "art was the easy major" (it isn't, not if you do it correctly)
And if you were, say, a middle school teacher, faced with a 7th grade student who didn't know his alphabet, what on earth would YOU want to do? I think a lot of profs look at their students and probably feel this way.
I appreciate that a lot of art students are ready to tackle the world with their meaningful, enlightening, fun and great illustrations. I think that is phenomenal. But unfortunately lots of cruddy students and cruddy teachers have paved the way for low expectations. You know you are getting something out of the class if a prof comes down harder on you than anyone else, or leaves you alone to see "what you do". Suddenly that instructor remembers why they're teaching.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, art school will only give you as good as what you put into it. There is the potential to find a really good creative environment, you just gotta dig.
Sorry this was a total rant, but if you are interested even remotely in art school, don't let people's talk about it not being necessary or it being useless get in your way!!!!
It can be TOTALLY frustrating, but you WILL improve. ;D

Hello all! It's great to see so many new people on this thread
Welcome!
D'shaunique, that is a beautiful image! Did you draw it from scratch or did you trace with a layer? I did the Eds' Guild pic of the girl by tracing a photo of my sister with a layer and then working from there.
CS, you can always try drawing directly on the Bimbo's layer. That way you can shade for example a top by using the given shading on the Bimbo's skin. I do that, it's actually easy.
Nemaine, I also love your second pic. It's difficult to draw from such an angle, isn't it. However, it's sometimes the most amazing images that are done via foreshortening. Regarding your worries about the hand, I'd say that the index finger looks a bit as though it's bent backwards. Oh,
her face reminds me of one of Michael Angelo's women!
Art school will definately improve you in the field of art, even if it only makes you consider your approach differently. The practice you are required to put in also helps immensely, of course!! I think art school is a very enriching place for a student who understands how the system works (ie. someone who knows to give them what they want and then work from there), but for people with a raw talent, it is not always a good place. My sister is very artistic and has sold many paintings, yet she got a D- in school for art. It is unfortunately a very subjective field. But I fully believe that you can learn something new from them.
That makes me think, most things in life are actually opportunities to learn new things. Even if they are bad experiences or hurt.

I love making my own jewellery.
I also love bead shops so I can't go into them too often otherwise I just end up spending far too much money on jewellery supplies.

MissMM! That's lovely! Your pottery is gorgeous!! Do you sell for a living, or are those special pieces?
