Probably up there in the world's Top 10 most pointless languages since only people in Wales speak it and they all speak English as well. Some say it's not a real language at all, and the founder of it just dropped a box of Scrabble. A box that just happened to contain no vowels...
But since I'm moving to Wales in March I figured it was my duty to learn! So I've tried to pick up a few things... numbers, time, colours, greetings, hobbies and weather so far. And some gloriously exotic insults (of course!)

Well, I myself have seen several Welsh speaking bimbos. But I wonder how they will react for your opinion about their ancient tongue
and it only looks so strange when written. In fact it contains quite much vowels. I would rather say pronounciation is quite hard. I lived there for 10 months and I still cannot pronounce ll.

i'm used to scottish dialects so i'm fairly good at the ll sound. right now i'm getting my pronunciation from welsh kids tv (igy tigy bip a bob is amazing!) and from the welsh BBc website which is... slighty wierd but useful
lol the opinion of their ancient tongue is from a Steve Hughes sketch, i thought it was great! in the most affectionate way, of course

Hey, LucyElen, can you tell me, because I was wandering for some time, are there any Welsh people who refuse to speak English?

English with a Finnish accent sounds stiff and a little silly. There's nothing sin-song-y about Finnish
.

Polish with English accent sounds bad. Like one would speak with mouth full of food or something like that
Finnish is beautiful. I like it's sound, though I don't understand ANYTHING

That's nice. Because once one Welsh guy told me he used to go to Welsh school and soke Welsh at schools and with friends but when he finished school he gradually ceased to speak Welsh and when several years later he met his former teacher, she spoke to him in welsh and he found it very hard to answer her. He said he forgot most of Welsh. That's sad.
And frankly speaking the best way to preserve Welsh is using English as less as possible.

I Speak fluen Welsh! Rydw i wedi bod yn dysgu Cymraeg ers on i'n pedwar
(I've been learning Welsh since I was 4 )
My first language is English, but I've been going to a welsh school since I was 4 (obv) I'm doing my GCSE's this year in welsh (except English). In our school Welsh is a mandatory subject but in English schools it is usually an option I think.
Not Everyone in Wales can speak Welsh. Very little can. It is THE hardest language to learn and can not be picked up over night. (Spanish is 10 times easyer) I.e There are at lease 5 different ways of saying yes and no, depending on the sentence
It is a Celtic language in is not only used in Wales. It's also been found in some parts of America and Spain
And yes the hardest letters to pronaunce are 'll, dd, ch, rh, th...'
Just in case u were wondering... Welsh alphabet: A, B, C, Ch, D, Dd, E, F, Ff, G, Ng, H, I, J, L, Ll, M, N, O, P, Ph, R, Rh, S, T, Th, U, W, Y!
It is a dying language and I think almost everyone (with a brain) in Wales is trying to hold on to it by the skin of their teeth
And there are some people that have Welsh as their first Language, but they learn English as it is needed... Seeing as most people speak it :L
P.S There are vowels in Welsh (A, E, I, O, U, W, (h))
Sorry this is so long... There'a a lot to be said :L If you need anything else just ask
xxx hope this helps :L xx
